Longview Museum of Fine Arts

Longview, TX

As Owner’s Representative, The Projects Group worked with The Longview Museum of Fine Arts to develop its new home at the historic Longview National Bank Building in 2021. The museum is now home to nearly 1,000 works of art, including paintings, woodcuts, photographs, sculpture, lithographs, serigraphs, collages, and works on paper, all centered around early Texas regional art from the 1930s and 1970s.

The Museum’s new home sits at the heart of the community’s cultural district and increases the Museum’s footprint from 16,500 square feet to 44,000 square feet. The new spaces, and accessible parking garage, will encourage the public to experience art, educational programs, and performances, and is a beautiful and welcome addition to the Arts!Longview Cultural District.

The existing iconic Mid-Century modern white marble building was designed in 1960 by Wilson, Morris, Crain, and Anderson Architects, known for designing the Astrodome in Houston, increases the museum’s footprint from 16,500 square feet to 44,000 square feet. The sheer size and statuesque beauty of the building, in addition to its central location across from the courthouse, will generate tourism, community pride and involvement, and serve as a dynamic centralized hub for the arts of East Texas.
